Opinion Line Extra (July 12)

It’s a mystery – why must the Kansas Department of Revenue’s Division of Vehicles office in Wichita be so atrocious?

There is an example of a program more arrogant, incompetent and remorseless than Obamacare right here in Kansas (July 11 Opinion Line). It is called KanCare, and it is putting Kansans out of work and killing small medical-related businesses.

Who decided to send crews to my neighborhood without letting us know? Eight city workers and heavy equipment stood around doing nothing because no one was told to put their debris by the street. Ridiculous.

State Rep. Jim Ward said the Wichita City Council has been working since at least 1991 to stimulate economic development downtown. I‘d say progress has been very slow and the results mixed over that 22-year span.

If Wichita is the second most dangerous place to be a woman (July 11 Opinion Line), it must be rated the most dangerous place to be a baby.

To anyone who is embarrassed to be from Kansas: I am more than willing to help you move. Just let me know when and where to meet you with a U-Haul.

If you rely only on media reports for information on the George Zimmerman trial, you will be really surprised when the jury acquits him. If you watched the trial and considered the evidence, you'll be extremely surprised if he is found guilty of anything.

A new meaning will be sent for conceal-and-carry license owners if Zimmerman is convicted. Why carry a gun, knowing that you will be tried for murder? It’s weird – the innocent are really the victims. When riots start in Florida, let them beat you until you’re dead.

The health care rule to verify income for people seeking taxpayer subsidies has been scaled back, and businesses with more than 50 employees are exempt for a year. Premiums are going up, not down. It is time for President Obama to admit his health care law is a complete failure.

Regarding Obamacare scams, the Federal Trade Commission’s spokeswoman said that “the fraudsters view it as an opportunity to rip people off” (July 11 Eagle). I thought she was talking about our fine, upstanding lawmakers.

Obama believes in an armed militia. The problem is that the militia is in Syria.

I was born in a Southern state and lived there for 35 years. I have seen racism from every angle. After living in Kansas for several years and reading the Opinion pages in The Eagle, it is obvious to me that racism (although thinly veiled) is alive and well in Kansas.
