When are Mayor Carl Brewer and the other Wichita City Council members going to get off their duffs and vote to bring water into Wichita from El Dorado Lake? The project should have started many months ago.
We pay to drive on streets. Bicycles, like boats and motorcycles, should be licensed as a minuscule contribution toward 100 percent accommodations bicyclists demand for facilities they can use limited days. Rather than streetworthy vehicles with rules, bicycles are toys operated at will by spacey owners.
It sure looks like the new leaders of the Wichita River Festival are putting together a real family event, and bringing back some of the events everyone enjoyed. And what a nice entertainment lineup with some good local entertainers. Where else can you get nine days of fun for $5?
What are the odds that Kansas will be the first state to declare bankruptcy?
All the different figures I hear from Topeka about the tax-cut benefits and subsequent shortfall add credence to what my father told me 65 years ago. “Figures don’t lie but liars do figure.” Cherry-pick any information and you can justify your view.
It is time to merge the six public universities into one. Kansas taxpayers can no longer support six separate state universities.
A democracy can only exist until voters discover that they can vote themselves generous benefits from the public treasury. From that time on, they will always vote for those who promise the most from the public treasury, which will finally bankrupt it for all and be followed by a dictatorship.
I named my dog “Congress” because of the way he does his business in the house.
Did George W. Bush finish coloring in all of the books in his library?
They voted for Obama because he wasn’t Bush. Now Bush’s approval rating is going up because he isn’t Obama.
Questions for you Obama haters: Why didn’t the Bush clan jump on a private plane and fly to see Maggie Thatcher off? Why didn’t George W. Bush get Father Emil Kapaun the Medal of Honor? I suppose he was too busy painting dog pictures.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction (a bomb). Iraq’s Saddam Hussein used bombs. Therefore, President Bush was right. So there.
