Opinion Line Extra (March 7)

Rep. Mike Pompeo is the perfect example of what is wrong in Washington.

Rep. Mike Pompeo is the perfect example of what is wrong in Washington.

Rep. Tim Huelskamp takes a private jet to Garden City Regional Airport. What does he care if American Eagle curtails the only service to southwest Kansas because of the loss of the airport’s control tower due to budget cuts?

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is running for Congress? All I can say is that with his background and morals, he would fit right in with the rest of them.

Why do people think I’m greedy when I want to keep the money I earned, but it’s not considered greedy for the government to take my money and spend it foolishly?

While reading the Scriptures over the weekend, I found one in Mark that reminded me of our government: “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”

It speaks volumes about the mindset of President Obama that he deliberately designed the sequestration cuts to be items that would be most painful for the American people instead of looking for ones that would cut spending while causing the least disruption in our lives.

They say we are about to lay off thousands of Americans because of a long-overdue cutback on governmental spending, but at the same time we give Egypt millions of dollars to be our friends. What the heck? Someone please explain.

Not once, but twice, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the Second Amendment prohibits Congress from taking away our gun rights. Our citizens have every right to protect themselves. It’s the way it has always been. It’s the way it should be.

Leonard Pitts is such a terrific columnist. His columns are always timely and right-on. It would be wonderful if The Eagle could run his columns on Wednesdays as well as Mondays.

Leonard Pitts just needs to shut up. What an embarrassment.

Displaying Dennis Rodman-like acumen, Pitts confidently asserted that “attempts to dilute the black vote have hardly abated” (March 4 Opinion). Really? A little evidence would have been nice.

I guess I will never understand why The Eagle continues to publish Pitts’ racially volatile columns.

I am assuming the city will be back to repair my lawn and remove the massive pile of dirt it left after plowing snow.

Litter laws are a joke. We have litter everywhere.

You want to sell me plants and landscaping in an area that is a drought, where half the summer the temperature is 100 degrees and water is $3.59 per gallon? Good luck with that.
