He promised a chicken in every pot, but we have more poverty than ever. Unemployment is bad. For those ages 18 to 24, the jobless rate is near 15 percent. Housing is a disaster. Debt is at historic levels. We have no plan to reverse deficit spending.
Republicans say they want to cut taxes and cut spending. They cut some taxes, but never have the courage to cut spending. Then they blame the Democrats for not doing what they cannot bring themselves to do. Meanwhile, the country racks up more debt.
I notice the words “compromise” and “balanced” used a lot these days from our chief executive. When he uses these words, you probably ought to hang on to your billfolds.
House Speaker John Boehner has once again shown his contempt for the American way of government. The word “compromise” may not be in his vocabulary, but it certainly was a word used by our Founding Fathers when creating our laws. Leave Congress to the intelligent, Mr. Speaker, not the ignorantly arrogant.
Let’s take Obama’s salary away from him. He can afford it. He’s a millionaire now. He has taken away so much from the American people, but nothing has been taken from him. Now is the time.
Why shouldn’t government take layoffs and pay cuts like the private sector? Many of us have been laid off or taken pay cuts. Are they any different?
I felt a bump. Guess we fell off the cliff.
The new secretary of state, John Kerry, doesn’t seem to understand America is broke. He just handed out $60 million in foreign aid to Syrian rebels. He doesn’t seem to care if people get laid off or services are cut. This is one of the reasons we are in debt.
If cops want to write some tickets, they should hit Walgreens at Central and West and ticket the morons speeding through the parking lot to avoid the traffic light.
Strange – the price of gasoline at the pump started dropping as soon as the snow started melting.
To those who think the recent heavy snows put a hole in the man-made global warming theory: Do a little research and you will find that with global warming, you will have periods of heavy snow. This has to do with the melting of glaciers putting more moisture in the air.
I hope that the city of Wichita will stop all watering of the golf courses if water conservation is truly needed.
