Take a look at your calendar. Christmas 2012 is over. It’s well past the time to take down your Christmas decorations. And don’t give me the excuse that they’re still there because you hold Christmas in your heart all year long. I don’t believe you. You’re just lazy.
Washington must adopt realistic expenditures if the American dream of rising standards of living is to remain a reality. If the politicians suck the strength out of our economy, we can expect a financial Armageddon.
Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has declared corporations are “persons,” how long will BP serve in jail for pleading guilty to manslaughter charges in the deaths of 11 of its employees?
Republicans love double-think: Government can’t create jobs, but cutting defense spending will kill defense-industry jobs. Regulation is bad, but I want to fly on a safe airplane and drink clean water. Freedom is a right, but not for the gays or women.
I’ll be happy to “stay out of your uterus” if you’ll stop asking me to pay for the results of you sharing it with every guy who has $3 to buy you a cocktail.
So Julie Burkhart of the South Wind Women’s Center thinks giving women a choice “ranks as one of the most important things in life” (Jan. 30 Eagle). How can choosing to end the life of a fetus be one of the most important things in anyone’s life?
The difference between a semi-automatic handgun and a semi-automatic rifle is the length of the barrel. It is easier to commit an assault with a handgun, but the rifle is called an “assault weapon.”
I guess the officers of the NRA consider their organization “a well regulated militia” since they pay membership dues.
Homicide statistics show 72 percent are committed with handguns and 4 percent with rifles. But because that does fit into the liberals’ “ban-assault-rifles” line, it will be ignored. Like usual, they want to do something, versus do something meaningful.
If booze shouldn’t be sold where families shop, families with children should be banned from any restaurant that serves liquor. This would certainly make for a better dining experience.
I sent an e-mail rebuttal of the bill sponsor’s selling points of H.B. 2023 to my representative in the Kansas House, and the reply to my e-mail was the exact same listing I had rebutted issue by issue. Obviously, they are not listening, and not even reading their e-mails.
TV ads are not played louder than programs. The TV programs are played at a reduced volume.
