To express yourself freely, you must be able to defend yourself freely. Thus we have the First and Second amendments. It started with the Greeks.
A long time ago when I was in high school, Democrats weren’t socialists. Things have changed.
An empty stomach is not a good political adviser.
Anyone else find it interesting that Republicans want to change the Electoral College now that it didn’t give them a win in eight years, yet when it gave them a win, it was perfectly OK?
So now Republicans plan to jack with the Electoral College system. I think it is time to throw it out and elect our president based on the nationwide popular vote.
Many of us thought Sam Brownback was trying to reposition himself for another run at the presidency. We were wrong. The man clearly believes he is entitled to be king. Now if we could just find him a nice little country with a vacancy.
Sadly, the members of my family are about to become refugees from Brownbackistan. My legislators, Sen. Susan Wagle and Rep. Dennis Hedke, dismiss any voice of reason in favor the Kansas Policy Institute’s agenda. We are third- and fourth-generation Wichitans, but we must jump off this train wreck in progress.
Remember when those on the left were always blaming President Bush for the high price of gas and wanting Congress to have hearings? What are they doing now? How about the one who thinks he’s our king? Maybe he can help.
A man ran a race and won. They dared him to race their best man, and he won again. He is not permitted to race anymore, but it is the losers’ job now to punish any supporters.
Margaret Mead is quoted as having said, “I do not believe in using women in combat, because females are too fierce.”
The article “As abortion rate plummets, Kansas seen as ‘testing ground’” (Jan. 26 Eagle) seemed a bit giddy that we only had about 8,000 Kansas children aborted in 2011. It would be hard to imagine a similar satisfaction if 8,000 Kansans were killed by war or gun violence, disease or any other means. There is still a long way to go toward safe and rare.
Abortion rates plummet and more children are unwanted, hungry, homeless and abused. Must be a correlation here. Unfit mothers, absent dads, shrinking birth control access, lack of employment opportunities, disappearing social services for the needy. Do we really need more babies?
I wish all the WSU basketball fans would wear yellow during the home games. Yellow, not black. The whole arena would look so awesome on the TV screen.
