Regarding a comparison of Obama to Lincoln: Lincoln had the ability to listen to differing points of view, and he knew and acknowledged his own weaknesses. His humility was his greatest asset. Please explain to me how Obama’s imperial presidency aligns in any way with Lincoln.
Don’t think President Obama is Lincoln-like just by listening to his hired pens.
Obstructionist Republicans wasted America’s past four years refusing each of President Obama’s compromise offers in a embarrassing failed attempt to deny him a second term. Now they say the president must be “willing to compromise.” Huh? These folks are so deluded, they don’t even realize they lost the election.
Being forced to pay for something twice is the definition of being fleeced. That’s what taxpayers are required to do in the aftermath of hurricanes. Politicians pay to rebuild again and again and again. Of course, they are not spending their own money. They are spending ours.
It’s a good indication that the voter-ID law is working well as intended because of the very few who are still whining about it.
“Banning assault weapons will do no good, for those determined to get them will do so regardless of what the law says.” Now substitute “abortions” for “assault weapons” in the sentence. Do either of the statements make sense? You decide.
Regarding New York state lawmakers’ ban on the sale of semi-automatic rifles (Jan. 22 Business Today): Way to go, New York. I hope Kansas will soon follow.
So Gov. Sam Brownback wants to be like Texas. Well, I own three houses in Texas, and the property taxes are $1.84 per square foot. I own two houses in Wichita, and my property taxes are $1.55 per square foot. Sorry, I don’t want to pay 15 percent more in property taxes to be like Texas.
I’d gladly kick in $500 to help Brownback move to Texas. I’ll have to get the cash off of my credit card first.
The country is broke. Our foreign policy is shot. We are getting people killed in Africa and on the border with Mexico. And the media spend all their time on Lance Armstrong. So he cheated. So what? Everybody with an once of brains already knew it.
People are not allergic to cigarette smoke. It’s an irritant, not an allergen. I know because I read it on the Internet, and everything you read on the Internet is true.
