Even with our very tight city budget situation, we still have funding available to send local politicians over to China for almost two weeks? I thought the budgets had been scrubbed.

People shouldn’t be surprised about the violence in Old Town. That’s what happens when young people have alcohol and are out after midnight.

The Police Department wants to stop the gun problems in Old Town with more streetlights? I think the problem is gangs. Keep these thugs in jail. That would take care of the gun problem.

Why is it nearly impossible to get the truth out of parts of our government? We just want the truth. We do not want, “Well, I think they will buy this line of baloney.” It is truly disheartening.

Mr. President: Running on your record shouldn’t be confused with running on one of Beyonce’s records.

Trickle-down economics does not work. President Reagan ended up raising taxes. President George W. Bush inherited a robust economy and drove it into a ditch of mammoth proportions. How many recessions do we need to prove that this does not work?

When Barack Obama was campaigning for the presidency, he pledged to listen to all of the people. However, he forced Obamacare through the Congress without winning a single Republican vote. If he wins re-election, we face another angry, unproductive and contentious four years.

Just how many Mitt Romneys are running for president? You can’t convince me that one person can have so many differing viewpoints with himself.

The Temptations’ 1970s hit song “Ball of Confusion” uncannily parallels our society today – war, racism, drug abuse, repression, suppression and corrupt politicians. The verse “Vote for me and I’ll set you free” has an even eerier parallel – it has been the chief mantra of Romney’s campaign.

The movie “2016: Obama’s America,” based on Obama’s autobiography, is alarming. It reveals an individual whose early life experiences were forged in a different culture. No wonder he wants to lead from behind. No wonder he proposes serious cuts in America’s defenses.

To the Catholics: There is nothing in the Bible about abortions or contraceptives. But the Bible is full of verses on helping the poor. You know who is against helping the poor.

Maybe the Machinists union can drive Bombardier Learjet out of Wichita, as it did Boeing.

To those complaining about having had their pay cut and their health insurance costs go up in recent years: It sounds like you need a union. The politics of envy – if I’m not getting something others are getting, take it away from them. The attitude should be, “I want that, too.”
