Maybe George Clooney ought to check out the southern border of his own country before he puts his nose in Sudan’s business.
So Republicans won’t pay for women’s birth control, through insurance? Of course not. Women should be abstinent or buy their own. Is Viagra paid for by insurance? Well, yes, but that’s different – men have needs. Will the unwanted children be provided for by the federal government? No, that’s welfare. We oppose that, etc., etc.
The first thing one should notice when entering a casino is all the employees working the floor. And these are just the ones you can see. These people are not volunteers, and guess who is paying their salaries.
American students’ reading and writing skills are down, math scores are falling, and knowledge of social studies is pathetic. No wonder employers are seeking foreign students. By and large, American students do not cut the mustard.
How is it that high gas prices are the fault of the president when he’s Republican but not when he’s a Democrat?
With mortgage rates at historic lows and property taxes not all that high, the five-year property-tax abatement for new construction is not only unfair but messes over folks with existing homes they’re trying to sell. Besides, with Sam Brownback as governor, this city does not need more resources off the table.
I wonder if the Chick-fil-A fanatics know that the Wichita State University union has had a Chick-fil-A for years. Get out and see the city.

Who would have thought we would see a time when it cost more to cruise around looking for hookers than it does to actually pay the hooker?
Instead of catching people not wearing seat belts, why doesn’t the Wichita Police Department concentrate on people running red lights and speeding through school zones?
Where on Earth did Wichita drivers get the idea it is OK to change lanes while turning a corner? Did these people get their driver’s license in a box of Cracker Jacks?
We want cheap products, so we shop at Walmart and other stores that buy their products from China, which takes away American jobs, which we need to buy more products. And we are blind to the downward spiral.
I was thrilled to see all the school TVs set for the Kansas State game. I know the underfunded schools need to have money to pay for cable or satellite TV and staff who are watching a game rather than teaching. Schools do not need more money to waste.
All this whining about bad officiating reminds me of something my coach once told us: “Winners say they fell. Losers say they were pushed.”
