Read Thomas Frank’s book “What’s the Matter With Kansas?” When will Kansans and other Midwestern folks wake up and realize that we are voting in representatives who do not vote the interests of the people of Kansas? It would be great if Boeing’s departure lowered our property taxes by 10 percent. But living in Kansas has taught me that local government will find a way to twist this and raise the taxes by 10 percent.
