There are children living in the White House and someone complains about their pet's birthday party? How petty and mean-spirited can you get? The Obamas are trying to raise their girls with as much normalcy as possible, but some people want to criticize everything they do.

It seems community organizers are better at arranging basketball games than at making decisions.

* * *

What did we get for having a "conservative" president? Bigger government, more deficit spending, the USA Patriot Act moving us ever closer to the Orwellian "1984" model, and increased spending in the bloody quagmire that is the "drug war," to name a few things. Maybe President Obama isn't so bad after all.

How long can our country last when the moocher class keeps coveting what the productive working class earns, facilitated by the political class? I'm fed up with the theft of my hard-earned wages. Are you?

The Republicans' lies about the so-called death panels in the health care reform bill are the ultimate in hypocrisy. Wasn't it Republicans who took action in Congress to try to determine the fate of Terri Schiavo's life?

No wonder the Democrats want Vice President Dick Cheney to shut up. He is showing how lax President Obama is about defending our country, how Obama is dragging his feet, how the Republicans have kept America safe after Sept. 11. I'd want him to leave town, too.

America will never have control of its immunization policies until American companies start producing the vaccines in the United States. For our government to depend on other countries for our flu shots is like letting foreign countries build our military aircraft.

The H1N1 virus is a big rip-off. It is a way for large companies to make mega bucks.

I applaud City Manager Robert Layton's attempt to franchise Wichita's refuse system, and suggest he examine any campaign contributions made to City Council members by big haulers.

Animal shelters are full of last year's Christmas puppies. Who are all these people who keep breeding dogs? Get a real job and stop depending on your pet to pay your bills.

I'd be curious to see how many contributors to Opinion Line are registered voters. If you don't vote, don't complain.
