I've never had a problem with our government, but I've never seen such a power grab in just 10 months. If there isn't a crisis, the government makes up a crisis.

Dick Cheney got five deferments to avoid Vietnam, then spent the past seven years hiding in a bunker. Now he calls President Obama afraid. What a chicken hawk.

What with Obama declaring H1N1 flu a national disaster, look forward to him trying to put the United States under martial law.

The Taliban must be included in political discussions in Afghanistan. They are to Afghanistan what the religious right is to America.

Comparing MSNBC to Fox News is apples to oranges. At least MSNBC openly states it is "The Place for Politics," whereas Fox falsely claims to be a "fair and balanced" news organization.

College professors may be well-educated, but most have never had a real job or lived outside the world of academia. Higher education and common sense are two different things.

You know why you've never heard of anybody doing anything really bad on marijuana? Because you can't get enough of it to get high. Keep it illegal.

During the investigation of every traffic accident, the Highway Patrol should be authorized to access the cell phone log of the driver. I predict the majority of the drivers involved in avoidable accidents will be proved to be multitasking, either talking or texting on their cell phones, at the moment of impact.

I've looked all over the Internet and I still can't find out how much the "Tea Party Express" plans to reimburse local taxpayers for the use of our parking lot at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium to hold its political rally Nov. 4.

It's simple. Allow everyone who wants to set off fireworks to get a license. Then when all the damage and cleanup costs come in, they pay for it. No license and they are caught? They pay a double share.
