Congratulations to the winners of the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Awards, and to the chamber for celebrating Wichita's famous spirit of entrepreneurialism with this outstanding program.
The 2010 award for businesses with 26 to 100 employees went to electronics company PWI Inc., which was founded in 1963 and makes lighting systems for corporate jets and other custom electronics. The winner among businesses with 25 or fewer employees was Professional Software, founded in 1983 by Ann and Doug Jenkins.
The remarks at last week's awards event, like The Eagle's Business Today profiles of the 10 finalists, underscored the tenacity, flexibility and faith it takes to succeed in small business today. Wichita can be proud of these companies, and hope that their everyday triumphs will inspire and guide more would-be entrepreneurs in our community.
