Why do storms tend to follow roads in Kansas?

There is no good scientific explanation as to what is going on. One could speculate that the storms are following a trail of warm air just off the surface of the roads, since roads absorb so much heat during the day. However, roads are so narrow that it is hard to imagine the storms would follow such a small track. The driving force behind most storms in Kansas the jet stream winds at 50,000 or 60,000 feet that tend to come from the southwest or west, which is how most roads are oriented in Kansas.
