July 4 extremes >
Looking back at the weather records, there have been some notable extremes on Independence Day in Wichita. The hottest temperature recorded was 110 degrees, set back in the scorching summer of 1980. Talk about hot as a firecracker! The coolest high we had was 72 degrees back in 1915. Speaking of cool, Wichita residents woke up to a chilly day on July 4, 1892: The record low was 53 degrees. The warmest low we had was 80 degrees in 1969. The most rain recorded on Independence Day in Wichita was 2.83 inches in 1958.
