Losing daylight >
Is it true the days are starting to get shorter, in that we're losing daylight?
—Ben
Using the sunrise and sunset tables from the U.S. Naval Observatory, the longest amount of daylight here in Wichita this year was June 22. The sun rose that day at 6:08 a.m. and set at 8:55 p.m., giving us a total of 14 hours and 47 minutes of light. Today has three minutes less daylight thanks to the sun rising three minutes later than on the 22nd. By the end of July, the sunrise will occur 24 minutes later and the sunset 17 minutes earlier than the 22nd: a net loss of 41 minutes of daylight.
