Temperatures will climb to near record levels in the Wichita area on Friday, extending a reprieve from winter’s cold.
Highs are projected to reach the upper 60s in Wichita, forecasters say. That’s just a couple of degrees short of the record high for Jan. 29, which is 70 in 2011.
Sunny skies and variable winds in the teens are also likely, forecasters say, with gusts topping 20 miles an hour.
The weekend will start off warm, with highs again in the 60s. Sunday will signal the downturn in temperatures, forecasters say, with highs in the low 50s as more clouds move in.
Chances for rain arrive Monday, with snow possible on Tuesday. Monitor later forecasts for more information.
