Wichita will climb near a record high temperature Friday, when late October will feel more like summer than the heart of autumn.
Highs are expected to reach the upper 80s under sunny skies in the metropolitan area, forecasters say. Winds out of the south and southwest will push into the teens and help hoist temperatures.
The record high for Oct. 24 is 89, set in 1939.
The weekend will continue the summer-like weather, forecasters say, with highs in the upper 80s under sunny skies.
