It’ll be warmer on Wednesday than it has been the past few days in the Wichita area, forecasters say, but it’ll still be pleasant for late August.
Highs will reach the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies, with light south winds occasionally touching double digits. Overnight lows will settle in the upper 60s, with more clouds arriving on Thursday.
More wind is on the way then, too, with south winds in the teens early and intensifying to the 20s later in the afternoon. Gusts could approach 30 miles an hour as highs touch 90, forecasters say.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in southern Kansas Thursday night, with more numerous storms expected in northern Kansas. Those storms could linger into Friday morning, forecasters say.
The weekend is expected to be dry and pleasant.
