Better chances for strong thunderstorms will be northwest of Wichita, stretching all the way past I-70.
Thursday looks to be sunny during the day, with showers and thunderstorms likely. The storms should fire up early in the afternoon in central Kansas, forecasters say, and move into the Wichita area later in the evening.
Large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain are the primary threats. AccuWeather is projecting that Wichita could see an inch of rain from the storms.
