Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely in the Wichita area over the next couple of days, forecasters say, and some could be strong.

The strongest storms could produce dime-sized hail, downburst winds of 50 to 60 mph and locally heavy rain.

High temperatures Thursday could touch 90 under mostly cloudy skies in Wichita, forecasters say, with light south winds climbing into the low teens at times. Showers and thunderstorms are likely again Thursday night and Friday, with lows dipping to about 70 and highs peaking in the mid-80s.
