The work week ends on a hot note in the Wichita area, forecasters say, with temperatures climbing near 100 again on a breezy and sunny day.

South winds will be in the teens, with gusts nearing 30 miles an hour. Overnight lows will settle in the mid-70s, with south winds easing only slightly.

The weekend will remain hot, forecasters say, with highs in the mid-90s and lows in the mid-70s. A slight chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives late Saturday night.
