It’s shaping up to be a wet morning in the Wichita area Thursday, with showers and thunderstorms expected in the region.

Forecasters say rain could last throughout the morning before skies begin to clear in the afternoon. Highs will only be in the mid-70s, with east-northeast winds in the teens. Gusts could approach 30 miles an hour.

Skies should be mostly clear by sunset, forecasters say, with lows dropping into the upper 50s. Easterly winds will ease overnight into the single digits.

Friday’s forecast looks delightful – or, as AccuWeather puts it, “beautiful” – for the Wichita area, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s. Winds will be light and variable.

Chances for rain return over the weekend, however.
