The opening day of Riverfest may see a few sprinkles here and there, but forecasters say rain shouldn’t threaten the fireworks after sunset.
Highs today in the Wichita area should reach the mid-80s, with mostly sunny skies and light easterly winds. Any showers that pop up should dissipate with sunset, National Weather Service meteorologist Vanessa Pearce said.
Overnight lows will settle again in the mid-60s, with Saturday echoing Friday in terms of rain chances and highs in the mid-80s.
Sunday is shaping up to be cloudy and warmer, forecasters say, with highs in the low 90s.
