The pleasant, clear skies that greeted Wichitans this morning likely won’t stick around all day.
Forecasters say clouds will start forming over the city sometime late Thursday morning or early afternoon, leaving skies partly sunny but warm. Temperatures are expected to top out in the mid-70s; lows will be in the 50s. Winds will be out of the south southeast at 13 to 15 mph.
The chance of precipitation remains slight Thursday, said Eric Schminke, general forecaster for the National Weather Service in Wichita. But rain and thunderstorms could pop up after midnight and linger into Friday, he said.
None are expected to be severe.
“The chance of rain will increase slightly Friday morning and increase again to between 60 and 70 percent Friday afternoon,” Schminke said.
