Montel Williams: Wichita helped me get started in talk business

Emmy-winning daytime talk show host Montel Williams credited Wichita for helping launch his public speaking career. In 1988, Williams, a Navy lieutenant, spoke about drugs to Wichita classrooms with a friend, Lt. Drew Brown.

In 1988, Williams, a Navy lieutenant, spoke about drugs to Wichita classrooms with a friend, Lt. Drew Brown.

Those presentations, Williams said, launched more speaking engagements, which ultimately led to the start of "The Montel Williams Show."

Williams was in Wichita today at the Center for Health and Wellness promoting a prescription assistance program with the Partnership for Prescription Assistance.

This afternoon, Williams traveled to Greensburg to promote the program. A representative of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America presented a $25,000 check to hospital officials and distributed medical supplies.
