Wichita and Sedgwick County face the threat of tornadoes on Wednesday, forecasters warn.
The Storm Prediction Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has placed a portion of Kansas, along with parts of Oklahoma and Nebraska, at a moderate risk for severe weather on Wednesday.
Sedgwick County is included in that area.
"I think the risk is there for tornadoes for tomorrow," National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Bowman said. "That would include the Wichita area.
"It's looking like a potentially volatile day."
Authorities evacuated volunteers from the rubble of Greensburg for today because of the threat of severe weather, and Greensburg is included in the moderate-risk area for tomorrow as well.
The tornado that wiped out most of Greensburg on the night of May 4 struck on a moderate-risk day, and Bowman said Wednesday "runs the gamut" of potential severe weather.
