Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger is reminding people affected by tornadoes and storms in western Kansas that the Kansas Insurance Department is available to help.
Insurance companies with clients in the affected areas have been notified. The department is ready to act as liaison between consumers and their insurance carriers.
The department has current insurance carrier contact information available.
If a consumer does not remember the insurance company name or have their policy number, but does remember the agent or agency's name, the department will have current contact information available.
Deal directly with the claims adjuster from your insurance company.
A consumer assistance representative from the Kansas Insurance Department will be available in Haviland from Tuesday afternoon through Friday afternoon. The representative will be able to provide assistance in the form of insurance company and agent contact information as well as answer questions.
The claims adjusters for insurance companies are already visible for consumers in Kiowa, Barton, Stafford and Edwards counties. If the individual is having trouble locating the adjuster, contact the Consumer Assistance Division at 800-432-2484 and the consumer assistance representatives will take the necessary contact information for the consumer and relay the information to the insurance company, agent or adjuster. The state of Kansas does not recognize public adjusters. Deal directly with the claims adjuster from your insurance company.
