Researchers gear up for battle against disease that’s devastating U.S. citrus crop

An insect that’s no bigger than the head of a pin _ the Asian citrus psyllid _ is responsible for spreading a disease called citrus greening that is wreaking havoc on citrus growers in Florida. And growers in other states, particularly California, are on guard as the disease shows signs of coming to their areas.
