Officers fire at car; chase ends in arrests

A brief chase through southwest Wichita Thursday resulted in police firing two shots at a fleeing vehicle and one of two suspects being hit with a Taser during his arrest.

Lt. Joe Schroeder said the chase started at about 10:30 p.m. after the car was pulled over on a traffic violation near McCormick and Seneca.

As officers approached the car, Schroeder said, the car sped off, striking a police car and nearly striking the officers.

Both officers fired at the car but no one was hit, Schroeder said.

Schroeder said the car was finally stopped at Glenn and McCormick when the driver and passenger, who resisted arrest, were taken into custody.
