The Kansas Health Foundation has awarded $954,874 in recognition grants to 57 projects designed to improve the health and wellness of Kansans.
These are projects in Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties:
* $25,000 to Kansas Food Bank Warehouse for its "Food4Kids" program.
* $25,000 to Friends of the Great Plains Nature Center for its "Linking Children to Nature" program.
* $25,000 to Newman University for a project to decrease bullying.
* $25,000 to Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center for outreach to underserved communities.
* $25,000 to YMCA of Wichita to expand the Health & Wellness Coalition.
* $25,000 to Hope Street Youth Development to help promote healthy behaviors to Wichita teens.
* $25,000 to Pass It On — Outdoor Mentors.
* $25,000 to Three Trees to help raise awareness of childhood bereavement issues.
* $24,916 to help continue the "Senior Wednesday" program.
* $24,740 to Wichita Independent Neighborhoods.
* $24,557 to help fund a home health care project in Harvey County.
* $24,512 to Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters.
* $23,095 to Kansas Children's Service League for a shaken baby syndrome campaign.
* $22,750 to SIDS Network of Kansas for safe cribs for families unable to afford them.
* $22,500 to Extension Education Foundation for an outdoor play initiative.
* $10,425 to Central Plains Area Agency on Aging for physical activity classes.
* $10,350 to Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for the "Wilderness Warriors" program.
* $7,500 to Real Men, Real Heroes for a teen mentoring project.
* $7,000 to Wichita Festivals for antiseptic wipes at the Wichita River Festival.
* $3,229 to USD 460 in Hesston for simulation infants for a high school program.
* $2,525 to Flint Hills Therapeutic Riding Center for staffing.
