Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.
For a complete list of You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.
The records: Statistical reports about infectious diseases in Kansas.
Why you’d want them: To learn more about health concerns statewide. Information is broken out by county.
Where you get them: The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports data about certain infectious diseases to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention weekly. See online reports at www.kdheks.gov. Click on the “Cumulative Case Reports of Disease by County” link under the “KDHE Data and Reports” menu.
How much does it cost: The information is free.
