Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.
For recent You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.
The record: A searchable database of restaurant inspections by the state.
Why you'd want them: To learn more about a restaurant you are thinking about going to or to find out if your favorite is as good as you think it is.
Never miss a local story.
Where you get the records: Go to www.ksfoodsafety.org. Click on "Inspection Search" under the "Restaurant Information" category. Then you can input the name of a restaurant. Or you can just enter "Wichita" under the "city" field and see the results of all Wichita restaurant inspections.
How much it will cost: The information is free.
