Wichita State has its tournament destinations for 2014 and 2017 locked up. Both send the Shockers to Hawaii.
WSU will play in the Diamond Head Classic next December over Christmas. The dates this year for the Honolulu-based tournament are Dec. 22, 23, 25.
In November 2017, WSU returns to the Maui Classic for a second time. Diamond Head fields are usually solid (Iowa State, Saint Mary’s, Oregon State, South Carolina, Akron and Boise State highlight the 2013 version). Making it back to Maui sends a definite message that somebody thinks the Shockers will remain a nationally relevant program.
WSU senior associate athletic director Darron Boatright said tournaments for 2015 and 2016 are undetermined. Fields for Diamond Head and Maui are either not ready for release or unknown, he said.
