Now that the final day of 2011 has come and gone, we can tally up the totals for precipitation in the Peerless Princess of the Plains.
Officially, 26.06 inches of rain fell in Wichita last year. That’s 6.58 inches below normal, according to the National Weather Service.
In addition, only a half-inch of snow has fallen so far this winter. That’s more than 5 inches below normal, according to weather service meteorologist Vanessa Pearce.
Weather patterns aren’t suggesting snowfall is likely over the next several days, Pearce said, so your snow boots can continue their hibernation for a while yet.
