A couple of strong storms have fired up in the Wichita area this afternoon, bringing spotty showers to the city.
More than 4,000 people were without electricity in southern and southeastern portions of the city, and authorities were reporting widespread traffic light malfunctions in south Wichita.
But Wichita still hit 107 before the storms arrived, marking the 10th straight day of triple digit temperatures.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 4:30 p.m. for Sedgwick County. The National Weather Service reported a strong thunderstorm near Cheney that was slowly moving east.
