WICHITA — Sisters Renee Chapin and Stacy DeGrant have day jobs as a medical assistant and liquor store manager, but they wanted to do something more so they're going to "bring a full-on Zumba studio to Derby," Chapin says.
"That's where our passion is," she says. "We love dancing."
Feel the Beat will open June 13 at 1606 N. Nelson Drive in the Country Plaza center.
Chapin says there are a lot of fitness facilities that offer a range of activities, but she and her sister want to focus solely on Zumba in order to "have fun while working out."
"It feels like a party," Chapin says.
Chapin doesn't like membership systems for clubs, so she and DeGrant will offer punch cards for 10 or 20 visits.
They're having an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 11 where they'll sell discounted punch cards.
They'll also have a meet-and-greet opportunity with instructors from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. They'll have free passes to hand out.
Chapin thinks others will come to feel the same as she and her sister do about Zumba being good exercise and great fun at the same time.
"Before you know it, they've already worked out an hour and didn't even realize they were doing it."
