WICHITA — It looks like Dollar General has a bigger plan for Wichita than simply two new stores.
In October, Have You Heard? reported that the chain had plans to tear down the former Braum's building on West Central just west of West Street to build a new store and that it's bringing a store to 47th Street South near South Clifton Avenue.
The chain actually is working on four stores, and a fifth is a possibility.
Jef Falling, vice president with Tulsa-based Stava Building, says he's working on four Dollar General stores here.
"We hope to have the first two up by probably March 1," Falling says.
That's the West Central store and a new one coming to 1918 E. 13th St.
Those stores and the one on 47th Street South will be 9,000 square feet.
A fourth, on the northwest corner of 21st and Piatt, will be 10,600 square feet.
"It's whatever can fit on the lot," Falling says of the chain's three prototype sizes. "That's usually the way that works."
