Wichita is closing in on a month without moisture – but it’s still not nearing the record for longest dry spell.
Today marks the 27th consecutive day without measurable precipitation, and there’s nothing in the forecast for the next several days.
But Wichita’s record for longest period without at least .01 in moisture is 67 days, ending on April 19, 1936. That was during the infamous Dust Bowl era.
We’ll have to get into late January to threaten that unwanted record.
