A majority of flight attendants at Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air are seeking representation by the Transport Workers Union of America.
A group of flight attendants filed a petition Wednesday with the National Mediation Board calling for a union election.
Allegiant serves Wichita with flights to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Phoenix-Mesa.
About 420 flight attendants work for Allegiant Air. If the measure passes, they would become the first employee group at the airline working under a union contract.
“Our company offers us great opportunities,” Allegiant flight attendant Agnes Lai said in a statement. “What we’re looking for is a negotiated contract, with fair and consistent work rules that everybody knows and everybody follows. That’s fair for us — and management.”
