French newspaper La Tribune is blaming the electrical fire on Boeing’s 787 earlier this month on Foreign Object Damage, or FOD.
The report blames “a tool, forgotten in a cabinet, caused a short circuit,” and implicates French supplier to the 787, Zodiac.
Analyst Robert Stallard said the report was “probably a positive if the source of the fire can be traced to an errant tool, rather than a system design issue.”
Boeing, its suppliers and the Federal Aviation Administration are studying the fallout from the fire and how the back up systems responded, he said.
” We expect Boeing to provide more clarification on the cause of the fire in due course, and what the impact is likely to be on the delivery schedule, given the pause in flight testing,” Stallard wrote in a report.
A fire on board a test 787 aircraft in early November has halted flight testing on the program while the investigation continues.
