WICHITA — The four partners in Wichita's Ray Davis Roofing are opening a new business next year that focuses a little more on fun.
Innovative Golf, an indoor golf simulator, will open in January in 2,450 square feet at 313 S. Greenwich just north of Kellogg.
"It's almost just like playing real golf," says Dicie Nicklaus, one of the partners.
Customers bring their own clubs (though some can be provided) and swing real balls onto a screen that features one of 18 golf courses.
Never miss a local story.
Customers can choose from a range of popular courses, such as Pebble Beach.
"It's not a video game," Nicklaus says. "It reads your swing just as if you were outside. . . . The screen takes over and the ball keeps going digitally."
She says there are several benefits for players using the simulator.
"They can definitely improve their game. Or they can just play a round of golf."
If someone has trouble walking or if it's too hot or cold or if it's raining, Nicklaus says the simulator is a great option.
"It just takes out all the outside elements."
