What’s faster? A speeding bullet or Gulfstream’s new G650 business jet?
The Gulfstream G650 reached Mach 0.995 — nearly the speed of sound — last week, when pilots took the plane for a test flight as part of its flight-test program.
The test pilots took the plane into a dive, pitching the aircraft’s nose 16 to 18 degrees below the horizon. They also did flutter test missions on the airplane. The plane performed “flawlessly,” the company said.
Spirit AeroSystems’ plant in Tulsa makes the airplane’s wing.
And for you trivia lovers: A bullet travels faster than the speed of sound.
