Kansas State basketball coach Frank Martin picked up another Miami recruit this weekend.
His name is Adrian Diaz, a 7-foot, 205-pounder, who will soon be a senior at Hialeah-Miami Lakes high school.
Diaz’s mother confirmed the verbal commitment to the Wildcats Sunday morning.
Diaz recently turned 17, and received interest from several programs before settling on Kansas State. He chose the Wildcats over North Florida, Virginia Tech, Florida International, South Florida and others.
Barry Lazarus, the director of Diaz’s Gold Coast AAU team, described Diaz as “a phenomenal kid and player who has overcome a lot.”
His AAU basketball coach Gaston Rodriguez, describes Diaz as an incredibly talented player.
Diaz will join a roster filled with others players with backgrounds in south Florida, including Martavious Irving, Freddy Asprilla and possibly Angel Rodriguez. Former players Denis Clemente and Luis Colon both had ties to the Sunshine State as well.
