Congratulations to Fidelity Bank for receiving the Kansas Preservation Alliance's 2010 Award for Excellence for its work in preserving the Carnegie Library building. But more important, thank you to Clark and Clay Bastian for doing such a wonderful job restoring a grand building (click here to see photo gallery). The brothers, who are officers at the bank, spent months researching historical photos and documents in an effort to return the nearly century-old building to its original elegance. The total restoration project took three years, and it would have been much easier and cheaper for Fidelity to have built a new building. But thanks, Fidelity and the Bastians, for caring about history and architecture.
