Missouri coach Gary Pinkel arrived late to Big 12 media days this morning, and he only had time to answer a few questions.
But during his abbreviated news conference, he spoke mostly about star quarterback Blaine Gabbert and fitness.
Gabbert, you may recall, had a fantastic freshman season, and is now considered to be one of the top signal-callers in the Big 12 Conference.
With so many other great quarterbacks no longer with the league, Pinkel was asked if Gabbert had a realistic chance at being THE top quarterback in the conference this year.
He stopped short of giving Gabbert that kind of praise, but said he certainly has the chance to be great.
“He can have a tremendous influence on the way we play,” Pinkel said. “But so do others. He just needs to focus on doing his job.” (more…)
