Depending on your vantage point, 4th Congressional District candidate Wink Hartman is either trying to buy the election or trying to avoid owing favors to special interests. Either way, it's stunning that Hartman loaned his campaign more than $1 million last quarter and nearly $1.3 million so far this election cycle. His spending — nearly $928,400 last quarter — far outstripped his fellow GOP competitors. Meanwhile, Democrat Raj Goyle continued to outpace all candidates in fundraising. He raised $281,300 last quarter and has raised more than $1.2 million so far this election cycle. Amazingly, however, Goyle lagged Democratic opponent Robert Tillman — who has raised and spent almost no money — in the latest SurveyUSA poll, sponsored by KWCH, Channel 12. Maybe money can't buy you love or votes.
