U.S. Senators this week formed a bipartisan Senate Aerospace Caucus in order to champion the nation’s aerospace industry.
Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) has joined the caucus.
In 2008, the industry employed 40,000 people in Kansas.
The Aerospace Caucus will be chaired by Sens. Kit Bond (R-MO) and Patty Murray (D-WA).
"The Aerospace industry faces critical challenges today in a competitive global economy,” Roberts said in a statement. “We must work together to ensure a level playing field in the global market place and within our own defense procurement process. One only needs to look at the problems with the next generation aerial refueling tanker to see that we have room for improvement.
