More strong winds are in store for Wichita and large portions of Kansas today, forecasters say.
A wind advisory is in effect until 11 p.m. today for more than 40 counties in the state. Sustained winds of 30 to 35 miles an hour can be expected, the National Weather Service said, with gusts of 45 to 50 mph.
Sunshine and highs in the low 80s can be expected in the Wichita area, forecasters say. Central Kansas could see isolated strong storms with large hail and damaging winds develop this afternoon – primarily northwest of a Salina to Lyons line.
Storms with small hail and gusty winds are possible in the Flint Hills and southcentral Kansas after midnight, forecasters say. A slight chance of storms lingers on Friday as the system moves on into southeast Kansas.
