It’s good that President Obama is sending National Guard troops to help secure the U.S.-Mexico border. But 1,200 troops won't have a significant impact on the 2,000-mile border. As Obama told GOP senators during a private meeting Tuesday, the federal government also needs to crack down on employers of illegal immigrants and provide a path for citizenship for illegal immigrants who have lived in the United States for years. "You've got to meet me on solving the problem long term," Obama said he told the senators. "It's not enough just to talk about the National Guard down at the border."
